The Metro Reload Stone Slinger

What is a Stone Slinger?

Stone slingers accurately launch streams of aggregates or soil at high speeds from a hopper body into a specified location. A stone slinger uses a radio-remote-controlled variable-speed conveyor belt system that can rotate in any direction to dump, spread, or ‘throw’ aggregate up to 40-50 feet away from the truck (depending on the product).

Stone Slinger FAQs

How far can the slinger truck throw materials?

The slinger has a conveyor-boom of 20’ before material leaves the belting. It can throw another 10-30’ off the belt, depending on materials.

*Soil can get quite dusty when thrown great distances, same for materials with fines.

What is the largest rock you can sling?

1”-2” rock is the largest that can be slung off the belt into place. The 2”-3” drain rock (round) can go in our slinger, but this can only be dropped off the belt at slow speeds, not slung into place.

Is there anything you CAN’T sling?

We cannot sling wood mulch, and we cannot sling rock over 1”-2” (fracture) or 2”-3” (round – see above), as these can damage the belting on the machine and/or become dangerous when slung.

How long does it take to sling material?

Slinging time depends on the individual job, job site access and materials being slung. Generally, the slinging time is quite fast and only takes an additional 10-15 minutes on top of travel time. (It’s a common misconception that slinging takes hours; it’s over in minutes and saves you hours of shovelling!)
